Another area I had a hard time getting a picture of before delivery was the area with the internal USB ports and 12V power outlet. The USB ports can be used for media (USB drive/stick) and/or charging. Tesla doesn’t publish the amperage of the USB ports for charging devices and it seems that they can change them with software updates. Rumors indicate that the USB ports are 2.1A for the driver’s side and 1A for the passenger side. So if you’re charging an iPhone/iPad use the driver side USB port. In the picture to the right i’ve got the USB stick (a SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 64GB) plugged into the wrong side since its tying up the fastest charging port. I cover the music system in other posts so I won’t get into that here. The 12V power port is rated at 15A or a maximum of 180 watts according to the Model S manual. Given that the USB ports are available and one has a decent amperage i’m unlikely to use the 12V power port much.
